18th Century Bronze Bust of George II

signed J. Hamilton, London, 1743. George II reigned from 1727 until his death in 1760. A bust by Rysbrack of the King, now in the Victoria & Albert Museum, shows him in similar victor's garb, probably after the battle of Dettingen, 1743, an allied victory in the War of the Austrian Succession, and the last time a reigning English monarch commanded his troops in battle.
